Other Scholarship Opportunities

Many other excellent scholarship opportunities exist for CAP cadets. Though not affiliated with CAP, many CAP cadets have benefited from these opportunities.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

ROTC Scholarships - Each military service provides a tuition-free education at hundreds of colleges across the country. In exchange for the education, cadets commit to at least 4 years of active duty, longer for pilots and other careers.

 Air Force ROTC Scholarships  –  Army ROTC Scholarships  –  Navy ROTC Scholarships

SMART Scholarships - The Department of Defense's Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarship program pays tuition and provides key internships.  In exchange for the education, students commit to at least 4 years of work in a DoD lab. 

Air Force Association Scholarships - The Lt Col Romeo and Josephine Bass Ferretti Scholarship was established for minor dependents of active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard enlisted airmen. It is for students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the area of science, technology, engineering or math (STEM). Additional information can be found on the AFA web site

Also, many local chapters of the AFA offer scholarships.  Look for a chapter in your area.

FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS

The Ninety-Nines – International Organization of Women Pilots, offers the Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarships for Women Pilots and several sections and chapters also offer flight scholarships. 

Girls With Wings - offers two flight scholarships, one for solo and one after solo to help obtain a pilot's certificate.  See http://girlswithwings.com/scholarshipmain.html for more information.

The Arthur M. OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Service in the Peace Corps can provide opportunities to partially cancel Perkins loans and many other school loans offer deferments while participating as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
